2024 Military Writers Symposium

Hector Aponte is a Junior at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ from Massachusetts. He is working towards his B.A. in Political Science, with three minors in Pre-Law, Transnational Crime, and Philosophy, as well as pursuing a concentration in U.S. Constitutional Studies. Hector serves as the Vice President for the Student Government Association, the National Senior Administrator for Silver Wings, and is a campus student ambassador for NetVUE (Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education). Hector is also currently working with another student on a National Undergraduate Poll surrounding the upcoming Presidential Election that aims to analyze the factors that influence undergraduate vote choice. 

Wil Bazant is a Senior at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ from Rumson, New Jersey, majoring in Criminal Justice. He is commissioning into the Marine Corps upon his graduation via the PLC program, which he commands the University's detachment of. Wil is employed as a Police Officer in rural Vermont and has gained experience in all aspects of the public safety triad since the COVID-19 Pandemic, including working as an EMT, Firefighter, and Ocean Lifeguard. Wil has represented the University abroad through the Olmsted Foundation funded expedition to the Republic of the Philippines and is eager to do so again through future engagements in Europe this year. Wil looks forward to leveraging these experiences in the world of international business following his military service. 

James Culp is a Senior at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ from Fort Collins, Colorado, majoring in Political Science with a minor in History. He is commissioning through the Navy Reserve Officer Training Program in the Spring with the hopes of commissioning as a Student Naval Aviator. James spent the Spring of 2023 studying abroad in Sevilla, Spain, experiencing the culture, learning Spanish, and taking classes on the functions and structure of the European Union. James is also an avid outdoorsman and spends much of his free time fly fishing. 

Daniel Inglee is a junior at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ, pursuing a double major in Political Science and Studies in War and Peace. With a strong family tradition of military service, Daniel has taken on leadership roles as a class senator, Vice Chief of Staff for the Student Government, and Vice President of the Captain Alden Partridge Silver Wings Chapter as well as a member of the Class of ’26 Ring Committee. He earned a 3.5-year Army scholarship and received the Department of History and Political Science’s Gold Star Award. After graduation, Daniel plans to commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, with hopes of branching into Armor and becoming a Foreign Area Officer.

As a Political Science and English double major with a minor in Leadership Studies from ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ, Sophia Righthouse, originally from San Diego, California has a strong passion for exploring the new age of intelligence and its impact on the United States Government and our politics. She is eager to discover work within the field of open-source intelligence that brings her closer to discovering the complicated web of cybersecurity within our political systems. Within the ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Corps of Cadets, she holds the position of Regimental Commander. In addition to this leadership role, she is a Fellow with the ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Humanities Initiative, a Peace and War Center Fellow, a member of Sigma Tau Delta, and a Writing Coach. Sophia is currently contracted with the U.S. Army and will be commissioning in May of 2025. 

Isabella Ross is a Senior at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ and is from North Carolina. She is working towards earning a Bachelor of the Arts in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Science in Criminology, three minors in Political Science, Transnational Crime, and Information Warfare, and a concentration in Emergency Management. She has been an Information Warfare Research Intern with ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) for the past year and a half where she focused her efforts on researching conflict overseas and malign influence campaigns.
