Getting Started with VA Educational Benefits:

VA Education benefits are either earned by the student or transferred to the student. Below are the steps to follow to access VA Educational Benefits. If you would prefer to speak to someone on the phone or in person, please contact the School Certifying Official (SCO) using the contact information below.

To get transfer benefits started the service member who earned the benefits must apply to the VA to transfer the benefits to their eligible dependent. This can be done through eBenefits.

Once the transfer is approved, the service member will receive a letter saying that the transfer was completed. This letter will identify what benefits were transferred to whom.

Once this letter is received the dependent must follow the steps below to apply for benefits.

If you have received benefits while attending a previous institution, submit a 鈥淩equest for Change Program of Place Training鈥 (VA 22-1995) to the SCO. .

Initial Certification

When the VA review is complete the student will receive an envelope with two duplicate letters in it. This is the student鈥檚 Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Please carefully read and maintain a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility to know what educational benefits you are eligible to receive. The other copy should be provided to the School Certifying Official (SCO) to initiate the certification process. Students can either email a copy of the COE to nwarner@norwich.edu or fax it to 1 (802) 485-2996.

Recertification

After your initial certification, you need to complete the VA Certification Request Form each semester. This form allows you to notify the SCO that you do or do not want to use your VA Educational Benefits that semester or that they are exhausted. Because the number of months you can use benefits can be limited, you are not automatically re-certified, you must let the SCO know you wish to use your benefits. If you do not complete the form you will not be certified.

Providing U.S. service veterans and their families with the education they鈥檝e earned

四虎影视 has a nearly 200-year-old tradition of educating officers for the U.S. military, and is proud to be part of the new GI Bill庐 Yellow Ribbon Program, which is a further enhancement of the post-9/11 GI Bill. As the country鈥檚 oldest private military academy, 四虎影视 is committed to helping veterans and their family members acquire the education they鈥檝e earned. The Yellow Ribbon Program allows 四虎影视 to fund tuition expenses for veterans who have served the United States following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. At 四虎影视 there are no program limits or student enrollment caps for those participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Yellow Ribbon Program benefits began with the fall 2009 semester and will be available for those students seeking to earn a bachelor鈥檚 or master鈥檚 degree from 四虎影视. For more information on all degree programs, visit our 四虎影视 pages.

What is the Yellow Ribbon Program?

The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program) is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. This program allows institutions of higher learning (degree granting institutions) in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to fund tuition expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate. The institution can contribute up to 50 percent of those expenses and VA will match the same amount as the institution. 四虎影视 has agreed to contribute the maximum percentage rate of 50 percent, making a private university education very affordable. Who is eligible?

Only individuals entitled to the maximum benefit rate (100 percent based on length of active duty service or service-connected disability since 9/11) may receive this funding. Therefore, you may be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program if you meet eligibility requirements for the Post 9/11 GI Bill, which are as follows:

  • Active Duty service members who have served more than 90 days after Sept. 10, 2001.
  • Retired and separated service members who have served on active duty more than 90 days after Sept. 10, 2001.
  • Service members and Reserve and National Guard members who have been activated for more than 90 days after Sept. 10, 2001.
  • Service members who were discharged after completing a minimum of 30 consecutive days of qualifying service after Sept. 10, 2001 and who the VA determined were discharged for a service-connected disability.

How Do I Apply?

The VA will determine if you are eligible for the Yellow Ribbon benefit when you activate your VA Education Benefits. There is no separate application process for Yellow Ribbon Benefits through 四虎影视. All students who present a COE indicating they are eligible for Post-9/11 GI Bill, Chapter 33 benefits at 100% are awarded 四虎影视 Yellow Ribbon Benefits.
