Center for Cybersecurity and Forensics Education and Research (CyFER)
NU Center for Cybersecurity and Forensics Education and Research (CyFER) is a formally established entity for the development of emerging, advanced and next-generation computing technologies.
CyFER serves students and faculty and is used for deploying specialist learning environments for the Computer Security & Information Assurance (CSIA) program, for fostering a culture of research among students, for outreach activities and for providing physical infrastructure for the very best students to manage and maintain.
There aren’t enough people with the knowledge and skills to fill all the open security positions in today’s information economy.
ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ offers two cybersecurity programs: Bachelors of Science in Computer Security and Information Assurance (CSIA), Bachelors of Science in Cyber Security online degree completion program.
The services of our graduates at all levels are in high demand by private industry, government, law enforcement, the military, health services and academia. Whether they’re focused on computer network security, malware, forensics or cyberinvestigation, our students and will be well prepared for the kind of job that never gets stale, and protects our country and private interests.
With a focus on both theory and hands-on experience, ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ provides a truly unique program using state-of-the-art forensic tools unheard of at other institutions of this size. ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ faculty make sure students at all levels and programs have a command of the basics and then find opportunities for them both to work with real companies on real cases.
ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ is recognized by the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Cyber Defense
with a CAE-CD designation. ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ has held this Cyber Defense designation since 2001. .

ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Re-Introduces Degree Program as Cybersecurity and Advanced Technology
ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ is proud to announce a significant update to its renowned degree program in the Leahy School of Cybersecurity and Advanced Computing. The University has rebranded its Computer Security and Information Assurance (CSIA) degree to Cybersecurity and Advanced Technology (CSAT) to better reflect the evolving landscape of modern technology and to align with current industry standards.
On November 16, 2024, the ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ AI Center, in collaboration with ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Applied Research Institutes (NUARI), hosted a unique one-day event focused on "AI and Humanitarian Disaster Response" for high school students and new ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ students hoping to learn about AI, all inspired by a challenge from Vermont Senator Peter Welch.
On Saturday, November 16th, the AI Center alongside the ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) was privileged to host Vermont Senator Peter Welch for a hands on exercise in using AI to respond to humanitarian disasters.
