Dr. Page Spiess: A Trailblazer in Education and Leadership Named Associate Dean of Online Learning

ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ proudly announces Dr. Page Spiess as the new Associate Dean of Online Learning in the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies. Dr. Spiess, a dynamic leader with a remarkable career, brings a wealth of expertise and innovation to this pivotal role.

Dr. Spiess's journey at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ began as a Lecturer in Chemistry and Biochemistry, where she inspired students for seven years with her passion for science and education. In 2022, she advanced to Senior Lecturer in the College of Science and Mathematics and took on the responsibility of Summer School Coordinator. Her vision and dedication were instrumental in launching ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ's Public Health Program, which introduced both Master of Public Health (MPH) and Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) degrees in 2023. That same year, she expanded her influence as a Senior Lecturer in the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies.

Academically, Dr. Spiess’s credentials are unparalleled. She earned her MS and PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of California, Davis, and most recently completed a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Florida in 2023. Her academic achievements are complemented by her recognition as the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award recipient for Vermont in 2021 and her selection as an inaugural Fellow for the Institute of Innovation in Teaching and Learning.

Beyond her academic contributions, Dr. Spiess exemplifies leadership and community service. She serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for the Clara Martin Center, supporting mental and behavioral health care in Orange County, Vermont. As a member of the FBI Weapons of Mass Destruction Working Group, Dr. Spiess collaborates with experts to address critical issues of public safety and terrorism prevention. Her dedication to STEM education is evident through her volunteer work with the Vermont STEM Fair, inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators.

In September 2024, Dr. Spiess joined the Faculty Senate for the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies (CGCS) and was quickly elected Faculty Senate Secretary. Her role on the Faculty Senate Executive Committee underscores her commitment to fostering collaboration and driving academic excellence at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ.

Dr. Spiess’s achievements reflect her unwavering dedication to education, leadership, and community engagement. As she assumes her new role as Associate Dean of Online Learning, ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ stands to benefit from her forward-thinking approach to expanding and enriching online education.
